Connecting Counsel & Communities

About Header

Connecting individuals and families to legal representation

Shore Legal Access connects individuals and families in need of legal representation with volunteer attorneys to ensure that justice truly is for all. As a nonprofit organization living in and serving the Eastern Shore, we understand the unique challenges facing our residents. We break civil law down to make it more affordable and accessible — and with our volunteer attorney in your corner, you have a voice and an opportunity to improve your outcomes. But we don’t stop there — we can also connect you to important community resources to help you meet life’s challenges.

Our civil legal services include:

  • Adoption (uncontested)
  • Adult Guardianship (legal counseling only)
  • Advance Medical Directives
  • Bankruptcy
  • Child Custody and/or Visitation
  • Consumer Debt/Debt Buyer/Affidavit Judgment
  • Criminal Record Expungement
  • Deeds and Tangled Title
  • Divorce
  • Foreclosure
  • Landlord-Tenant Dispute
  • Power of Attorney
  • Wills

*Note: We do not take the following case types: child support alone and not part of a divorce/custody case, personal injury, employment, immigration, criminal cases, jury trials, traffic cases, protective orders/peace orders and/or appeals. Please see our Client Resources page for help with these issues.

Call or fill out an online intake to request assistance. Our staff will work with you to determine next steps, such as scheduling an appointment with one of our volunteer attorneys or completing an application for representation in court. We regularly hold free and low-cost clinics for clients in need of family, life planning, consumer debt, housing, and criminal record expungement assistance. View our calendar of events to see when a clinic might be available near you.
