At Shore Legal Access, Emily serves as both a Family Law Case Manager and an Expungement Case Manager, and she’s been an essential part of our team for a little over one year. A 2023 graduate of Salisbury University with a degree in philosophy, Emily’s background in ethics and political philosophy helps her connect with clients on a deeper level, offering both practical and emotional support during some of life’s toughest times.
A Community Connector
Being a case manager means being a connector—bringing clients into contact with resources they need to resolve their issues. Sometimes this goes beyond legal assistance. Emily uses her network of local resources like social services, nonprofit organizations, and community programs to offer support, information, and referrals.
Filling the Legal Void on the Lower Eastern Shore
The Lower Eastern Shore faces a significant “legal desert,” where access to affordable legal services is limited, and many people have trouble finding help. Emily’s job is vital in this context—she is often the first point of contact for residents seeking legal guidance but who may not have the means to connect with a private lawyer. Her ability to connect people with resources and guide them through complex legal challenges helps bridge that gap and make justice more accessible to those who need it most.
Making a Difference, One Client at a Time
Whether helping someone with a custody issue, guiding a client through an expungement process, or simply pointing them to local community support, Emily’s work makes a real difference. She’s not just helping with legal cases, she’s empowering individuals and families in a region that has long struggled with limited access to legal aid.
A Vital Part of the SLA Team
Emily is a cornerstone of our mission to provide access to justice and resources to underserved communities. Her dedication ensures that people on the Lower Eastern Shore have a reliable guide in times of need, no matter what challenges they face. We are proud to have her as part of the Shore Legal Access team.
